The Nikon D800 made its appearance at the CP+ Show in Japan. Those in attendance were able to see the camera up close and hold it, however they were not able to take sample pictures using the camera. On display were some of the D800’s components including the magnesium alloy body. Brian Tobey (btobey.com) got his hands on the D800 at the event and was impressed, stating its looks and handling are an improvement over the D700.
The major online retailers have been overwhelmed with the early rush for the Nikon D800. Retailers such as Amazon closed their pre-order within a day of putting it up because they would be unable to fulfill all the demand. It looks like Best Buy also closed their D800 preorder (camera is now just listed as “coming soon”). If you still want to get in on a pre-order, choosing one of the lesser-known retailers may be a good option to get your D800 delivered soon.
